Recap: The UK Black Business Show

It may be November but real ones know Black History could never be contained to just one month. With that said, let’s recap last month’s UK Black Business Show. The week-long event consisted of panels and talks covering industries such as tech, media, law, sport and beyond - all designed with one purpose - to bring together Black entrepreneurs and professionals across the UK.

The much-anticipated week unfolded with a staggering lineup of over 60 panels, featuring insights from more than 200 speakers and hosting an impressive 6000+ attendees.

Some notable speakers included the Diary of a CEO founder, Steven Bartlett, who emphasised the importance of leaning into the unknown and how failing fast can set you up for success in the long run. On the other hand, World Champion Heavyweight Boxer,  Frank Bruno spoke more about his experience with mental health and urged everyone to pace themselves on their journey to success.

Supporting Out The Box UK, SixtySix played a crucial role crucial role in co-producing and shaping the event’s programme. Our involvement included the ideation of panel content based on industry needs, coordinating the speakers and co-managing the content delivery throughout the entire week.

Our founder, Martina Gordeen, took it one step further and also moderated the ‘Gen-Z and the Boardroom’ panel on the Seminar stage. Joined by Austin Okolo, Junior Makame, Mabintou Kolley and Tiana Holgate, they explored the various challenges climbing the corporate ladder and how they navigate challenges unique to their generation.

Next year the show is at the Excel centre and we recommend trying to get down to at least one day if you can - we definitely will be!
